Why do we always want something we can't have? Honestly, we don't know, but it sure makes a good story. In the first Elementary lesson, Cris and Mickey take a look at the life of little Pepe, his forbidden desire, and how it's starting to rip apart his relationship with a loved one. Sounds a tad bit too dramatic? Well, that's how we like it. Jovitt adds to the hoolah with an insider's look at Filipinos and their pets.
A: Nay, gusto ko ng aso.
B: Pepe, hindi nga pwede.
A: Bakit, nay? Bakit???
B: Basta. Ayoko.
A: Ma, I want a dog.
B: You can't have any, Pepe.
A: Why, ma? Why???
B: Because I said so. That's why.

KalyeSpeak is practical, fun, even entertaining at times. We will not bore you with textbook dictation and miles and miles of memorization. Our lessons get right down to the vernacular -- just as how it is spoken in the street. This way, you can rule shopping, watch what you eat, and even delight that cute little Filipina on the beach.

Hahaha, OA na naman si Jovitt.
Oh the Humanity!
But to more relevant matters:
The translation into "Because I do not want" seems a bit off. Reading it there seems to something lacking. Want what? It's missing a receiver of the wanting. But listening to it, it's adequate enough, if a bit like net-speak.
Wouldn't it be better if it were: "Because I said so," considering the context of the authoritarian mother?
Will do! Thanks Pupay! :)
Most of the heated discussions around my house start with:
"Ma, bibili moko....."
Then the discussion becomes very loud, but too fast for me to follow.
Bill: Hahaha! At least now you'll know how to say "Ayoko!" to side with your wife. :)
Mickey, is that your dog as a puppy? So cute! What is it, like chihuahua/French bulldog?
Hey molly! Nope, it's the dog of my neighbor when I was living in Shanghai. It's so cute, it's named Cha-lee. Hahaha.
